Egg ornament made from a blown Cayuga duck egg. The protective coating on the egg is black. It is naturally produced by the ducks as they are laying the eggs and have a tendency to go more grey later in the season.
Because it takes time for the protective coating to dry, sometimes there are streaks and blemishes in the black (it can also get worn or washed off over time). Inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi (repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold…) I have added gold glitter over the “imperfections”
I’m hoping to sell these by the exact pictured egg in the near future, however for now the pick will be random.
